ESP8266 LED Lighting: Installing COB LED downlights controlled using QuinLED
Because we’re now living in the house I can finally get to work on installing the actual lights I’m going to be using all throughout the house. So, I made a video on how to install lights and connected them to QuinLED!

ESP8266 LED Lighting: Programming and controlling QuinLED
It’s been a while since the last article and video about the ESP8266 but finally the article and video on how how to program QuinLED and then control it from your PC is here! Continue reading ESP8266 LED Lighting: Programming and controlling QuinLED
ESP8266 LED Lighting: Setting voltage and flashing NodeMCU
The next step in the series of building your own ESP8266 is to set the voltage and flash the ESP-01 with the NodeMCU firmware! Continue reading ESP8266 LED Lighting: Setting voltage and flashing NodeMCU
ESP8266 LED Lighting: Board files and components list
A big part of being able to build and tinker is having the correct tools and components. In this post I will show everything I use to completely solder a QuinLED board so you can get the right kit! Continue reading ESP8266 LED Lighting: Board files and components list
ESP8266 LED Lighting: Revisit and history of QuinLED
It’s been about 1,5 to 2 years since I started the project to create my own wirelessly controlled PWM LED dimmer. Since that time I’ve kept refining the PCB and code and this post will be a sort of revisit and revision history of QuinLED.
In future posts and videos we will be doing a new tutorial on what components you need, how to solder it all together, program the ESP8266 and link it to Domoticz. I also plan to create posts about the LED Power wall I’m going to build to house everything centralized in my house. Continue reading ESP8266 LED Lighting: Revisit and history of QuinLED
ESP8266 LED lighting: LED Power Supply China vs Mean Well
As you’ve been able to read in previous posts, I’m working on a lighting system in my new home based on LED downlights and LED strip.
Although the LED Downlights can come with a driver, I’ve opted not to use those (and save about ~5$ per light). I will be driving both directly with DC power. This requires me to have a large amount of DC wattage. And since buying power supplies for this is an investment, I’ve decided to test a few “cheap” Chinese models vs Mean Well models to see how they compare and which would be the best investment. Home Networking: First walk through on the build site
As some might know, we’ve been building a house for a while now. We’re now into it about 1 year and I thought it would be nice to show a video of how things are progressing and also showcase some of the “features” that are going into the house.
So, introducing the Home Networking series 1st post and video! The home networking series will be my journey starting from scratch, creating the plans, having the house built and installing everything to try and create the ultimate home setup. I’ll take you with me, share the good and the bad and hopefully some some fun going along! Continue reading Home Networking: First walk through on the build site
ESP8266 WiFi LED dimmer Part 10 of X: Finding the right lights
Now that the LED dimmer is working and I have workable boards (Still working on better PCB designs) and I have a plan laid out for the house, the last task was to find the right lights to use them with. This turned out to be harder then I thought!
Recently I finally found what I’ve been looking for, both a downlights and LED strip!

ESP8266 WiFi LED dimmer Part 8 of X: Version 2 of the PCB design
With the help of kind internet folks I was able to get a fritzing part for the new voltage converter I wanted to use to try and make a smaller board. A few weeks ago I sent my new ‘panalized’ design to dirtypcb’s and I got them back last week. They are awesome! Read on to order the boards yourself!
