ESP8266 LED Lighting: QuinLED v2.6 PCB
It’s been a long time in the making but I’ve finally put the final touches on my newest revision of QuinLED! This makes it version 2.6 rev 1.00. Let’s check it out!
ESP8266 LED Lighting: Programming and controlling QuinLED
It’s been a while since the last article and video about the ESP8266 but finally the article and video on how how to program QuinLED and then control it from your PC is here! Continue reading ESP8266 LED Lighting: Programming and controlling QuinLED
ESP8266 LED Lighting: Setting voltage and flashing NodeMCU
The next step in the series of building your own ESP8266 is to set the voltage and flash the ESP-01 with the NodeMCU firmware! Continue reading ESP8266 LED Lighting: Setting voltage and flashing NodeMCU
ESP8266 LED lighting: QuinLED soldering tutorial & Tools
After getting all the required components together it’s time to solder them onto the QuinLED board. I made a 30 minute video going through all the steps of soldering everything together trying to show that it’s actually quite easy to do so yourself!
This post also highlights on all the tools I use while working with QuinLED. I describe most of them and explain a little bit what I use them for. Continue reading ESP8266 LED lighting: QuinLED soldering tutorial & Tools
ESP8266 LED Lighting: Board files and components list
A big part of being able to build and tinker is having the correct tools and components. In this post I will show everything I use to completely solder a QuinLED board so you can get the right kit! Continue reading ESP8266 LED Lighting: Board files and components list
ESP8266 LED Lighting: Revisit and history of QuinLED
It’s been about 1,5 to 2 years since I started the project to create my own wirelessly controlled PWM LED dimmer. Since that time I’ve kept refining the PCB and code and this post will be a sort of revisit and revision history of QuinLED.
In future posts and videos we will be doing a new tutorial on what components you need, how to solder it all together, program the ESP8266 and link it to Domoticz. I also plan to create posts about the LED Power wall I’m going to build to house everything centralized in my house. Continue reading ESP8266 LED Lighting: Revisit and history of QuinLED
ESP8266 LED lighting: LED Power Supply China vs Mean Well
As you’ve been able to read in previous posts, I’m working on a lighting system in my new home based on LED downlights and LED strip.
Although the LED Downlights can come with a driver, I’ve opted not to use those (and save about ~5$ per light). I will be driving both directly with DC power. This requires me to have a large amount of DC wattage. And since buying power supplies for this is an investment, I’ve decided to test a few “cheap” Chinese models vs Mean Well models to see how they compare and which would be the best investment.
